Kanpur: Kanpur engineer Chandan Gupta, who was detained in Russia, has now returned home safely. His wife Sneha Gupta herself has given this information by releasing a video. She said that her company UFlex Ltd helped a lot in her husband's release and remained in touch with her the whole time. Sneha also thanked BJP MP Seema Dwivedi and Sarva Vaishya Samaj wholeheartedly for supporting her in this difficult time. She said that these people brought her matter to the authorities and brought the matter in front of everyone.
Sneha said that Chandan was taken into custody at around 11:40 pm on Saturday night. At the same time his phone and passport were also snatched away. Sneha did not know anything initially. The friend who was with Chandan later called and told the whole story. After this Sneha immediately contacted UFlex company and started getting information about her husband. That night was very heavy for her.
According to Sneha, the admin department and unit head of UFlex in Russia continuously talked to her. The company immediately arranged for a lawyer for Chandan. Chandan was released late at night only after getting legal help. Sneha said that the company supported her like a family.
Sneha herself had expressed this apprehension before her detention. She had also sought help from PM Modi and CM Yogi so that her husband should not be forcibly recruited into the Russian Army. Sneha said that Chandan had gone to Russia on a work visa, he is an engineer in UFlex. They are residents of Kanpur and they also have a 10 year old son. However, there has been no official confirmation yet about the pressure to join the army. This was Sneha's concern.
There were reports in the media about some allegations against Chandan. Sneha called them all baseless. She said that he also came to know about these things from the media, there is no truth or evidence in them. She has refused to speak much on this right now.
When Chandan was in custody, the Indian Embassy had also taken cognisance of the matter. The embassy had said that they are in touch with Sneha and Russian officials. Russian police had described it as a matter of legal investigation. India had demanded to give consular access to Chandan. At present, the complete details of why Chandan was arrested and what were the actual charges against him have not been revealed. But it is a matter of great relief that he is now safe and has returned to his family.
